Used truck caps are sold as-is, but that doesn’t mean you’re on your own. Here’s a clear breakdown of what’s covered, what’s not, and how to make a claim if something goes wrong.
Used items, honest expectations: All caps on UsedTruckCaps.shop are pre-owned. Listings describe each cap’s condition in detail, and our grading system ensures what you see is what you get. Warranty coverage reflects this — we stand behind accurate descriptions, not manufacturing defects.
Listing Accuracy Guarantee
If your cap arrives in materially worse condition than described in the listing — undisclosed cracks, missing hardware, or misrepresented fit — we’ll work with you to make it right with a partial refund, full refund, or replacement.
Always covered30-Day Structural Guarantee
Any structural defect that wasn’t visible at delivery and couldn’t reasonably have been detected — such as a hidden stress fracture or failing seal — is covered within 30 days of the delivery date. Contact us with photos and we’ll open a case.

Carrier + usFit Guarantee
Every listing specifies the make, model, and bed size it fits. If a cap doesn’t fit the truck it was listed for, that’s on us — contact us within 14 days and we’ll arrange a return.

All locking mechanisms and side window latches are tested and noted in each listing. If a listed lock or latch is non-functional and wasn’t disclosed, it’s covered under our Listing Accuracy Guarantee.
Per listing accuracyBecause these are used items, the following are explicitly excluded from warranty coverage:
- Normal wear and tear — Surface scratches, fading paint, minor chips, and weathering consistent with a used cap’s listed condition grade are not defects.
- Pre-existing cosmetic damage disclosed in the listing — If the listing photo or description noted a scratch, dent, or discoloration, it’s part of the purchase as-is.
- Damage caused by improper installation — Cracks, stripped clamps, or broken seals resulting from installation error are not covered.
- Damage from misuse or modification — Drilling, cutting, painting, or altering the cap in any way voids all coverage for the affected area.
- Weather-related damage after delivery — Damage caused by hail, flooding, or UV exposure after the cap is in your possession is not covered.
- Fit issues on non-listed truck configurations — If you purchased a cap listed for a different truck than yours and it doesn’t fit, that is a buyer error and is not covered.
- Claims submitted after the coverage window — Structural claims after 30 days, fit claims after 14 days, and shipping damage claims after 48 hours may not be eligible.

Every listing on UsedTruckCaps.shop is graded by the seller using our standardized condition scale. Understanding your cap’s grade sets the right expectations and forms the basis for any warranty claim.
Grade A — Excellent
Minimal signs of use. No significant scratches, dents, or fading. Glass and seals in near-new condition. May have very minor surface marks only visible up close.
Like newGrade B — Good
Moderate wear consistent with regular use. May have minor scratches, light fading, or small chips. Fully functional — all windows, locks, and seals intact.
Typical used conditionGrade C — Fair
Visible wear, scratches, or fading. May have repaired areas, minor cracks, or non-original paint. All functional components work unless otherwise noted in the listing.
Priced accordinglyGrade D — As-Is / Parts
Sold strictly as-is for use as a parts donor or DIY project. Structural integrity may be compromised. No warranty coverage applies to Grade D items.
No coverageMost claims are resolved within 3–5 business days. Having your order number, photos, and a clear description of the issue ready will speed up the process significantly.
Document the Issue
Take clear photos of the problem — multiple angles if possible. Note the specific issue and how it differs from the listing description. Photos are required for all claims.
Contact Us Within the Coverage Window
Reach out through our Contact page or email support@usedtruckcaps.shop with your order number, photos, and a description of the issue. The sooner you contact us, the better.
We Review Your Claim
Our team will review your submission and may contact the seller for additional information. We aim to respond to all claims within 48 business hours with next steps.
We Mediate a Resolution
Depending on the issue, resolution options may include a partial refund, a full refund with return shipping arranged, a replacement cap of equal value, or seller-funded repair reimbursement.
Return Shipping (If Required)
If the claim requires a return, we’ll coordinate with you and the seller on logistics. Return freight is covered by us for verified listing accuracy claims. Buyer-initiated returns for change of mind are not covered.
Sellers on UsedTruckCaps.shop agree to our Seller Standards before listing. This means:
- Accurate descriptions — Sellers must disclose all known defects, cracks, and non-original components in the listing text and photos.
- Correct fitment information — Sellers are responsible for accurately specifying the make, model, and bed size their cap fits.
- Proper packaging for freight — Sellers are required to palletize or crate caps appropriately to prevent shipping damage.
- Cooperation on claims — Sellers must respond to and cooperate with our warranty claim process. Sellers who repeatedly misrepresent items are removed from the platform.
Our dispute mediation is always free. If a seller is unresponsive or unwilling to resolve a valid claim, UsedTruckCaps.shop will step in and make it right at our own discretion.
Does the warranty transfer if I sell the cap?
No. Warranty coverage applies to the original buyer on record and is not transferable to subsequent owners.
What if the listing had no photos of a damaged area?
If a defect is not visible in listing photos and not mentioned in the description, and you discover it upon delivery, that falls under our Listing Accuracy Guarantee. Contact us within 30 days with documentation.
I installed the cap and it leaks — is that covered?
Minor leaks are common with used caps and installation adjustments often resolve them. If a seal was listed as intact but is visibly failed or torn on arrival, that may be covered. Post-installation leaks that develop after fitting are generally considered installation-related.
The cap arrived in great shape but I changed my mind — can I return it?
We do not accept change-of-mind returns. All sales are final once the cap has been accepted at delivery. Please review listings carefully and reach out with questions before purchasing.
