We stand behind every listing on our platform. If something isn’t right, we’ll make it right. Here’s exactly how our return and refund process works.
Eligible for Return
- Cap is significantly not as described in the listing
- Incorrect fitment due to a listing error (wrong make, model, or bed size listed)
- Cap arrives with shipping damage not visible in listing photos
- Missing features that were explicitly listed (e.g., sliding windows, brake light)
- Wrong item received — cap does not match what was ordered
Not Eligible for Return
- Buyer provided incorrect truck specs (wrong bed length, year, or model)
- Change of mind after purchase
- Cosmetic wear consistent with the listed condition grade
- Cap has been installed, modified, or drilled
- Custom-painted or color-matched caps ordered to specification
- Return request made after the 7-day window
Time limit: All return requests must be submitted within 7 days of delivery. Requests received after this window cannot be processed. If you have any concern about your cap, contact us immediately — don’t wait.

If your return is approved, we issue a Return Authorization (RA) number and provide return shipping instructions. Do not ship the cap back without an RA number — unauthorized returns cannot be processed.

Return the cap in its original condition using the freight carrier and instructions provided. Cap must be adequately secured for return shipping. Do not install, drill, or modify the cap before returning it.

Once the cap is received, our team and the seller inspect it to confirm it matches the stated reason for return and is in the same condition as when it was delivered.

Approved refunds are issued to your original payment method within 3–5 business days of inspection. You’ll receive a confirmation email when the refund is processed.
3–5 business days to original paymentReturn freight costs depend on the reason for the return. Because truck caps ship via LTL freight, return shipping is a real cost — typically $150–$400 depending on distance. Here’s how responsibility is assigned:

Issued when the return is due to a listing error, wrong item, or item significantly not as described. Covers the full purchase price plus original shipping. Returned to your original payment method within 3–5 business days of inspection.
May be offered when a cap has minor undisclosed cosmetic issues that don’t affect function — allowing you to keep the cap at a reduced price rather than paying return freight. Partial refund amounts are negotiated case-by-case with the seller.
In some cases — particularly for shipping damage or wrong items — we can facilitate an exchange for an equivalent cap from our inventory rather than a cash refund. This is often faster and avoids the wait for a refund to process. Ask our team if this option is available for your situation.
Warranty terms vary by listing and seller. Always check the product page for warranty details before purchasing. Here’s what you’ll typically find:
- Dealer take-offs & like-new caps — May still be within the original manufacturer’s warranty period (LEER, A.R.E., Snugtop, etc.). The warranty badge on the listing will indicate this. You’ll receive any applicable warranty documentation with the cap.
- Good condition caps — Generally sold as-is with no manufacturer warranty remaining. Our platform return policy still applies within the 7-day window.
- Fair condition caps — Sold as-is. The listing condition description and photos represent the item’s state at sale.
- Commercial seller caps — Dealerships and fleet sellers sometimes offer their own limited warranties. Check the individual listing for details.
UsedTruckCaps.shop does not provide an independent warranty on used caps beyond our 7-day return policy. If manufacturer warranty coverage is important to you, filter your search for Like New condition listings.
Tip: If a listing shows a warranty badge, contact us before purchasing and we’ll confirm the remaining coverage period and transfer process for that specific cap and manufacturer.
If your cap arrives and you believe its condition was misrepresented — beyond what the condition grade and listing photos indicated — here’s what to do:
- Photograph the discrepancy clearly, showing the specific area of concern alongside the listing photo for comparison.
- Contact us within 7 days of delivery with your order number, the photos, and a written description of how the cap differs from the listing.
- Our team will review both sets of photos and the original listing. If we determine there was a material misrepresentation, we’ll initiate a full seller-funded return.
- Normal wear consistent with the stated condition grade (Good, Fair) is not grounds for a dispute. Our condition ratings intentionally account for age-appropriate use marks.
Can I return a cap I’ve already installed?
No. Once a cap has been installed — including any drilling, clamping, or wiring — it is no longer eligible for return. Inspect the cap thoroughly before installation and contact us with any concerns first.
What if the seller disputes my return?
UsedTruckCaps.shop mediates all return disputes. We review the listing, the photos, and communications from both parties and make a final determination. Our decision is binding on the seller.
How long does a refund take to appear?
Once approved and processed, refunds take 3–5 business days to appear on your original payment method. Credit card processing times vary by issuer — some may take up to 7 business days to post.
What if I paid with Affirm (financing)?
Refunds for Affirm purchases are returned to your Affirm account and your payment plan is adjusted or cancelled accordingly. Contact Affirm support if you have questions about your specific plan after a refund is issued.
Can I exchange for a different size instead of a refund?
If you need a different fitment, we can help you find an appropriate cap in our inventory and apply your refund as credit toward the new purchase. Contact our team to explore this option.
